When you drop a file into Fixbun, it's read inside your browser tab using the File API. There is no server to receive it, no network request carrying your data, and no account linking you to it.
The background removal AI model downloads once to your browser cache (~40 MB). After that, all inference runs on your device using WebAssembly and WebGPU. Your photos never travel anywhere.
The photo metadata scrubber shows you the real GPS coordinates so you can verify what's being removed. Those coordinates are shown only to you — nothing is logged, tracked, or sent.
Close the tab. Your original file is exactly where you left it. Fixbun never had it.

Straight answers
Does my file actually stay on my device?
100%. Fixbun runs entirely inside your browser tab. There are no servers receiving your files, no cloud storage, and no account. The file never travels over the internet — not even to us.
Why does video compression take a few minutes?
Your browser is re-encoding the video in real time using your device's CPU or GPU. A one-minute clip typically takes about a minute. Keep the tab open and your download will appear automatically.
Will the compressed video pass platform upload limits?
Yes. We aim the output strictly under the size and duration you selected. Browsers export MP4 when possible, WebM as a fallback. Rare edge cases: very old portals requiring a specific MP4 codec profile may need an additional step.
Is the GPS location actually deleted, or just hidden?
Actually deleted. For JPEG and PNG files, Fixbun surgically removes the EXIF, XMP, and IPTC metadata blocks from the binary file without re-encoding the image. The pixel data is untouched and the metadata is gone.
Does the background remover send my photo to an AI server?
No. The AI model is downloaded once into your browser cache (about 40 MB). After that, background removal runs entirely on your device using WebAssembly + WebGPU. Your photos never leave your machine.
What happens to my file when I close the tab?
It's gone from Fixbun's perspective. We never had it. Your downloaded output file is yours — stored wherever your browser saves downloads.
